To announce the launch of the Hydrophonik Records label and the signing of its two first artists, Miles Barnes and David Campana, we had the idea of having the two artists collaborate on a filmed cypher project. The two artists met before their signature with Hydrophonik, participated both in the 2019 edition of the Francouvertes in Montreal and get along musically. In one week we have assembled the team and the material necessary for the recording of the song and the shooting of the video accompanying it. Our strategy was to raise the desire to listen to the song with the goal of reaching 10,000 views by broadcasting it on Facebook before distributing it and making it available on the usual streaming platforms. On November 18 the video was posted on Hydrophonik's Facebook page (having accumulated more than 400 "Likes" in 3 weeks), with a total promotional budget of $ 30, and reached 10,000 views and more than 30,000 impressions in 10 days . Having achieved our goal we wanted to meet the many requests from fans to distribute the song on their favorite platforms. David Campana is a Canadian rapper, singer, author and director. His sound signature is defined as a melodious trap, with influences of soul and pop-RnB. Choir boy David Campana decided to make a career in music in 2010, when he discovered the performance of Charles Aznavour and Kery James: "A l'ombre du show business". Poetizing the trap then becomes the motto of the artist whose sincerity in the texts, the musicality and the distant remarks of some usual rap cliches are his assets to expose his truth and to demonstrate that power begins by believing in oneself. Also, known for his sweet voice and his melodious flow, David Campana is often invited to top-line the "catchy" choruses of his many collaborations. David Campana has also credited more than twenty self-produced videoclips. In 2019, his work "VYB" was nominated in the category for best videoclip of the year by the 3rd edition of the Gala Dynasty. Active on the Montreal scene since 2014, with his former group, HDC x LTK, he was selected in 2018 as a solo artist to participate in the 11th edition of the show concept, La Releve se leve, from the Wordup. After the release of a first mixtape in 2017: "MyNB", he collects successful collaborations with producer and beatmaker Major, at the origin of the titles You Na na, Vyb and Tragic. In 2019, he collaborated with the Montreal rapper Shotto Guapo to release the "CE7TE LIFE" EP, that they will successfully defend at the Francouvertes contest. Semi-finalists of this 23rd edition, they will forever mark the history of the competition with a staging worthy of a hip-hop opera. The release of his second mixtape: "Bonjour, Hi", is scheduled for 2020. The sweet rap of "Take your Time", and his brand new banger "Trafic" offer us a very eclectic taste of this next long awaited mixtape. Miles Barnes is a Montreal born and raised rapper who grew up in Ahuntsic, north of the island. Miles leaves nothing to chance: his wordflow is carefully crafted, every sound is chosen, his communications strategy well thought through... he makes sure to pay attention to every single detail. More than just a rapper, he mixes-in his love of dance and theater to give originality to his performances, which makes each one of them a unique experience. On stage, the young rapper feeds off of the crowd to draw his uplifting and colorful energy and to fire up the show. Barnes developed his style starting in 2014 by attending open-mics and freestyle sessions, as well as competitions for aspiring artists. His music gained momentum after the release of music videos online and then through multiple collaborations. With Maestro Omayela's help, Miles released his first mixtape in 2014: Miles Away. With twelve original tracks, this project soon caught the eye of established and emerging French-Canadian rappers. Around the same era, Miles met Jah Maaz, current member of LaF, a group with which he collaborated to create a purely Montrealer EP: Jah-Miles - Ville Marie. This genuine and prominent album was released in August 2015. After a long period of incubation, Miles then released a surprise EP in 2017, Air Miles, assembling 5 tracks. Within a few months, the artist kept releasing different singles, including collaborations with Kevin Na$h & FouKi as well as Quiet Mike. 2019 started even stronger with Miles participating in the Francouverte's 23rd edition, which allowed him to further his network and, especially, meet David Campana. He also started dabbling in show production, organizing CED, an evening dedicated to his best friend. This non-profit event allowed him to raise funds for the GRIP (Groupe de Recherche et d'Intervention Psychosociale). After many performances, a writing trip to Europe and a year of professional training with the Carrefour des Arts de la Scene et de l'Entreprenariat), Miles is now back at it, more inspired than ever, with a new album: YFW (Y FAUT WORK), produced by Clement Langlois-Legare and Adel Kazi (Pops and Poolboy) from Clay and Friends.
