Young Poet
Crowned "South London's electronic soul queen" by Notion magazine, Carmody has achieved over seventy million streams, sold out London headline shows at Omeara, The Waiting Room and Bussey Building and been championed by Zane Lowe, Guy Garvey and Jamie Cullum amongst others. Carmody first came to people's attention in 2014 via her collaboration with Tom Misch on their 'Out to Sea EP', a hugely successful partnership that has continued across many of Tom's releases. Renowned for her poetic sensibilities, peerless songcraft and soaring vocals, Carmody draws as much upon the 70s folk magic of Joni Mitchell and Joan Armatrading as she does contemporaries including Jordan Rakei and Lianne La Havas. Never one to settle for platitudes or cliche, Carmody's rich lyrical style explores often under-represented aspects of the human condition such as identity, spirituality and grief with spellbinding and powerful effect. A proud champion of the south London scene of which she has formed such an integral part, Carmody continues to collaborate extensively with both new and established artists including Laura Misch, Alfa Mist, Marie Dahlstrom, Sipprell, Jasper Tygner and Conor Albert. Carmody's debut album is released in Autumn 2021.
