Regarding this single, in Kinnie's own words: "I imagined myself to be a grown man for this song, addicted to porn and trolling the internet for a fight." The Internet has changed the face of pornography, making sex available 24/7. The thing that interests me about this equation is that whereas porn actors used to have sex on screen in the 70's and 80's maybe once in a 4 day shoot, making sex on screen a perhaps more genuine connection, porn actors now have sex on screen many times in a day, and for less money, and often do not have time to develop chemistry with the other actors, and the relationship between those actors is visibly different. Rashida Jones documents the rise of Internet porn culture in her work, "Hot Girls Wanted", and her analysis is on point. I wanted to write a song from the perspective of a man (but a woman could be the character in the song, too) who is deeply addicted to porn and to trolling, so much so that the 'floor beneath their feet' knows so much of their history that they no longer bring people to their home because it has become their own personal battlefield.
