"Time Zone" represents an enormous artistic leap forward for Baton Rouge-based rhymesmith, Toy Brandon. Set to a darkly spare, hypnotic track produced by Flip, Toy's rhymes assess the damage of a relationship gone wrong. If it sounds like he's speaking from experience, well, he is. Toy had to look no further than a breakup he endured over a year ago for inspiration. The result is a highly autobiographical, yet relatable, break-up anthem. Toy manages to balance a "fuck this shit, deuces!" swagger with a hint of vulnerability and betrayal. Clocking in at just under three minutes, Toy efficiently covers a lot of emotional territory: incredulousness at his ex' digital cold- shoulder ("delete me off ya twitter ma, blocked me on your insta too, oh we petty!"), indignation, anger, and wistfulness, to name a few. Like really, you're gonna wanna hug it out with the brotha by the time the song fades out. Because really, why she have to block him on Insta!?
