Are You Serious
Oscify - The Mantra EP (2017 Are You Serious) Tracklist: 01. The Mantra [4:43] 02. Here's Your Relevance (The Elegant Year Sandwich) [5:10] 03. Soul Inside [4:04] 04. I Thought They Were Weeds (May Be a Tree in My Old Age) [4:34] 05. Colorado Tomorrow [3:56] It has been asked if certain sounds can help with conditions such as depression or even heal physical ailments. I believe they can when we are in touch with the music of life and the moments of silence where it rests. Within the mechanized hum of society, it can be easy to lose touch with the calming sounds of the natural world. Birds, cicadas, crickets, squirrels, and chipmunks, a breeze through the leaves, raindrops; we must stop and listen to catch these moments. Then we can add our own notes to the symphony. On this most recent project, "The Mantra", I wanted to get back to my hip-hop roots while at the same time challenging myself to do something new. Each beat on this EP is based around hand drum rhythms played on a Remo Fireskyn. Additional percussion, fat bass lines, and strings were added. Also, I added some vinyl cuts to the tracks, in an effort not attempted on any project previoustly. The lyrics on this project are somewhat of a mission statement; with the mantra being a repeated phrase with the intention of enhancing an idea or desired result. The rhymes are cerebral and abstract but definitely pointed and concise. Thank you for listening, and I hope you enjoy this latest piece. - Oscify For more like this, visit http://www.areyouserious.net ...
