Taigenz found his calling in Hip-Hop at a very young age. Born in Montreal, Canada, he has performed in the United States as well as Europe. Having opened up for artists like Wiz Khalifa, M.O.P., Tekno, Iyanya, and Dadju, Taigenz has proven experience as a live performer. Taigenz is the product of a black man in North America who is heavily rooted in his African culture. His writing style and subject matter is predominantly influenced by specific moments in his life and as well as the lives of those around him. Taigenz does not stay in one particular box; his sound ranges from trap to R&B to afrobeat. The title of Taigenz' new album, Life Ain't Free, encompasses the message and theme of the project; everything is an exchange, especially when it comes to growth and reaching new heights. The album's first single "Vag" will be released on August 16th, 2019. A nod to his hometown, "Vag" is a Montreal slang term used to express dismissal in a conversation. The song is Taigenz' reminder for listeners to "...say 'vag' to the nonsense". Though the first single may be heavily influenced by his local culture, other tracks from the album have found inspiration elsewhere. Taigenz reached out to Atlanta based artist, Alexis Renee, to feature on the album's third track, "Lemme Ball". The way in which Renee--whose song "To Love Somebody" received placement on Marvel's television series "Cloak & Dagger"-- delivers her vocals on the song's chorus beautifully rounds out Taigenz' hard-hitting verses. Taking a lead from his family's Cameroon heritage, Taigenz is able to blend the afrobeat sound and direct lyrics of "Speak the Truth" with authority. The title is inspired by his mother and aunt who told him to "Speak the truth and shame the Devil" as a young child whenever he felt he was in trouble. Produced by Rauny Beatz, based in Benin, Africa, this song is bound to be a standout.
