MODLEE joins the ranks of Disques 7ieme Ciel at the beginning of 2022 and honors us with her new project SOUL URGE which will be available everywhere from March 11th. Her addition to the team is notable and significant as she is the first female artist to take her place on the label. A sonic journey signed MODLEE and Vlooper. SOUL URGE is the result of a visionary and unique co-production. Stories shared in the light of an inner healing and at the same time a message to the other. The album vibrates on the foundations of hip-hop influences, electro and expanding soul fusion styles. SOUL URGE plunges you into a parallel universe of Rhythm and Blues, lulled by the hushed vocals and the imaginary of MODLEE. A tribute to beauty, the feeling of growing up, of giving in to our inner desires. The desires of the heart and soul. Originally from Quebec and Jamaica and having traveled between Quebec and the United States, MODLEE has been greatly influenced by jazz, soul, R&B, gospel and reggae. Working in the music industry since 2009, the artist has many experiences in her background. She started out in the beat making world and did some vocal collaborations on instrumental albums. From there, several significant projects emerged in MODLEE's career: her first EP "ANALOG LOVE" distributed on the Bandcamp platform (2010), the project "Sunwalk" delivered via the Californian label Soulection (2012), her collaboration with the rapper Eman on the song "Back to me" (2014) as well as with Alaclair Ensemble on the song "436" from their album "Le sens des paroles" (2018), etc. Her most recent opus "Queendom Mix Tape" released in 2017 under the label Coyote Records stems from a feeling of wind in the sails in the artist and a positive reception of the public towards her previous projects. A work loaded with a more personal identity. The composition of the project hovers over topics such as spirituality, community, feminine strength and other values that are central to the human that is MODLEE. The quality of MODLEE's work is paramount in her creative process. That's why she always counts on working with a great ally being the producer Vlooper. Vlooper is an accomplished sound engineer who has signed many exemplary projects in the industry and has always supported the artist's vision and brought her talent to the forefront. Navigating through musical styles that have long been marginalized in Quebec (hip-hop, RnB) and through her unique journey as a mixed-race woman who has been developing her art for over ten years, MODLEE has contributed to a rich cultural diversity. The singer is a unique source of female inspiration and embodies the importance of being a positive role model, taking one's place and expressing a different and powerful voice.
