It all started with a car crash, but the real and the most important question is "why"... It's simple to be disturbed by a message you're receiving. As simple as dying on the road because of the distraction caused by whatever device had your attention. I came up with this particular project with the intention to share and question my views on the influence of devices on our daily habits and on our emotions. When I wake up in the morning and take the subway, the first thing that strikes me is the amount of people having there eyes glued to their phones, including myself. It's like we never take the time to look at what is physically around us. Why walk ? You have uber. Why cook ? Food is ordered online and delivered in less than an hour. Why even bother taking the time to visit your friend, girlfriend or family when sending a kind message would save enough time to do something you consider being more useful ? New technologies made themselves omnipresent: initially created to answer specific needs, they made themselves necessary by creating new needs for us, fake and blinding needs. Growth and innovation have a cost, it's called destruction and the balance here is obvious: our dependence to devices keeps on increasing while the simplest things in life are slowly fading away. How can we distance ourselves from it? What if we loose it all ? For this project I had to face this idea of destruction and experience a « disconnected » and new creative process to find myself alone with my senses. I'm lost in the middle of nowhere, with a broken phone, after a car accident. The only things in my possession ? : my eyes, my flesh & my instincts. No devices found.
