Goldsmiths graduates and New Cross natives Nula (Luke Osborne and Aradjoa Gee - pronounced A-rah-dua), are a South East London duo, creating alternative R'n'B with a bittersweet edge. London born Aradjoa originally sang at her local gospel choir from her late teens to early twenties at a church in South East London and briefly collaborated with RocketNumbernine. She sang her first gig at boiler room alongside Neneh Cherry. Luke, a Bristol born drummer and multi-instrumentalist in his early teens discovered his fathers rare collection of synths before making his journey to London, where he studied Popular Music alongside James Blake, Rosie Lowe, and Katy B. Although on different courses the duo were introduced to each other by an old friend and mentor Simon Deacon, they then collaborated on numerous projects in the Goldsmiths scene before forming Nula in early 2016. Both coming from different musical backgrounds and born to musician parents, Aradjoa and Luke's eclectic influences are infused within their blood, many include trip hop producers Massive Attack, Bjork, Sampha, Shara Nelson, Bonobo, Jamie xx and Sade to name a few. All of which fuse together to create their dynamic sound. Having previously worked with friend and producer Kwes (Solange), the release of 'Mutual' sets the tone of things to come as the pair wrote, arranged, vocally produced and produced the track 100%% themsleves. "Mutual is about focusing on whats real in the midst of adversity. A social commentary on the confusion and disillusion young people often face in our current society especially when it comes to politics, relgion and personal struggles against the system." Having garnered support from the likes of NTS Radio & BBC Introducing with a soundcloud demo of their track 'Us' the back end of 2017 into 2018 is looking very exciting.
