Next to feature on BumpCut is the Alex Wellmann. A regular on our sister Roush Label, Alex is known for his high-energy and uplifting tech sound. His 'Growin' EP is another solid example of his standalone style and identifiable sonority. 'French N' Disco' gets things moving with a substantial amount of energy and flair. Alex's trademark heavyweight drums are accompanied by a well-balanced sub and complimentary hat rhythms, creating a robust and groovy vibe. The track is broken up in sections by the clever layering of a soulful female vocal. Next up, 'House Huse' features more of the same foundations that you come to expect from Alex. This time he elects to go for a scattered, driving flow. The energy of this track is at full capacity from start to finish which makes it a choice for the peak hours of the party. 'Growin'' follows with a more stripped-back approach. From the get-go, the emphasis is diverted towards the lower-frequencies as opposed to the high harshness of hats and percussive elements in the prior tracks. A wider-swung groove with a catchy bass melody and an engaging vocal hook, something to break up any playlist nicely. Closing the EP, 'Guetto Trip' reverts back to a pacier tempo. Built primarily on a huge, wobbly bassline and a simple, shuffled beat, the real magic comes during the transitional sections of the track.
