Get Up for me is one of most liberating things I ever wrote because I tackled a lot of the inner demons within myself, my mother's passing and bullies that have hurt me in the past, all in one song. I wanted to tell myself I could get through the painful times of my life while having the song be very uplifting. When developing the Beat with Pierre Leck and Nick Ribbons I wanted it to be very summery, anthemic and energetic even though the subject matter of the lyrics are quite tough, I wanted the music to be completely opposite. I want anyone listening to the song and lyrics to feel empowered to 'Get Up' and overcome whatever struggles they may be having. - Dean Robert
