This is a collaboration between The Ringo Jets and the hottest Turkish Remixer Hey! Douglas (aka VEYasin / Real Name: E. Yasin Vural) and a first for TRJ as a remix. Hey! Douglas' music draws on soul, funk and psychedelia, inspired by the golden era of Anatolian Rock & Pop of the 60s & 70s. He's best known for his energetic, crowd-pumping live DJ sets which became a classic over the past few years. The song's roots date back to February 1972 when it was first performed live at the Sanremo Festival by Italian group Delirium under the name "Jesahel". The song was written by the band's frontman/singer Oscar Prudente and lyricist Ivano Fossati. Turkish cult actress and stage personality Esmeray (Diriker), a rare character in the country's arts & culture scene being a woman of mixed race in the public eye, picked up the song for a cover w/ Turkish lyrics. The recording was released in 1974 as the B-Side for her widely popular single "Unutama Beni". Now more relevant than ever with the Black Lives Matter movement and other goings on in the world around race and ethnicity-driven tensions, The Ringo Jets has given the song their trademark touch and released it as the opening track of their latest EP Yadigâr (Ferment Records). This remix was released simultaneously with a music video featuring both artists and underlines the timelessness of a good song regardless of its genre and performer(s) while celebrating the legacy of one of Turkey's most underrated and unsung artistic heroes. Produced, Mixed and Mastered by Hey! Douglas (E. Yasin Vural) Cover Artwork: Tayga Soysaltürk Cover Concept by: Can Sertoğlu
