LE ''MEILLEUR'' EPP.DOX
Biography of P.DOX P.DOX has been rapping for more than 15 years. Member of one of the most influential collectives for the new generation, the K6A, he has always distinguished himself by his way of playing with words and his flow uninhibited. A pioneer of Word Up Battles and a member of the duo Jam & P.DOX, he is considered one of the best of his generation. The Montreal MC has faded since the release of the Mighty Dox EP in 2014. In order to remain relevant in a scene in full boiling, he took a step back to redefine his position as a solo artist. A more than beneficial break that contributed to the development of a new artistic approach, based on the overall musicality of a project instead of just wanting to write "good verses of rap". P.DOX arrives where we did not expect it, with a homogeneous and timeless project that will certainly mark people. Probably the most unexpected and necessary return of the last years, which adds a color to the superb painting that is currently the Quebec rap. -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- --------------------------- The '' BEST '' Ep (or the importance of quotation marks) All rappers want you to believe they are the best. This is one of the most common cliches in Hip-Hop. We have always felt at P.DOX the need to dissociate ourselves from these predefined codes, and this project is no exception. Naming your project The '' meilleur '' EP can seem bold. In fact, it's really a positioning: '' What's the best? it's not me, I'm fuckin 'dope', This is the first sentence we hear while listening to the EP. Then, he names 21 of his colleagues, as if to remind people that rap in Quebec has never done so well. It is a rejection of the eternal race at the 1st step of the podium. The MC is at peace with not being the best, but at the same time reminds him that he has nothing to envy of his colleagues. A subtle twist, reminiscent of quotation marks, which is a question of interpretation and personal taste. On a more Cartesian side, it's clearly his best project for life. The '' Best '' EP transports the listener into several universes. Musically, we touch sounds more classic (The best), vaporeux / planing (Airplane Mode, Rewind, Gone) more aggressive, (your problems) and even dancing (The guy views). One feels in the effort put in the mix and in the arrangements a desire of current sounds, without giving the impression that it is forced. With regard to the topics covered, P.DOX demonstrates that he has several tools in his vault. Disconcertingly versatile, he manages to make people laugh, think and turn back by creating strong images but never tinged with this "rap" heaviness. Often in the form of storytelling, we understand that he is inspired by anecdotes of his life in his art. He talks about the need to move forward and make peace with his past, to accept his own weaknesses, the need to disconnect from a busy lifestyle, and of course to competitive aspect exaggerated in hip-hop (and in life in general). Competition he rejects proudly. Moreover, the rapper exposes his frailty without gene and demonstrates that it is not a weakness. One feels the experience of a life not always simple and the maturity in the subject. All that rapped in a strong voice and all in confidence, with a flow laid, uninhibited precise and experienced. tracklist The Best (produced by Sev Dee) Your Problems ft.
