The Mexican ballet folklórico can be traced back to ceremonial and social dances of indigenous people living in Mexico. As it has evolved, it now encompasses characteristics of ballet with each Mexican region's traditional dance that has been influenced by their local folklore. Phonomaster Records, in association with the Mexican Music Archive, has compiled a 4 volume collection of over 50 songs celebrating these wonderful and historic songs.
