Kveldsol / The Things That Swings (Incl. Telephones Remix)Kamuflars
Hot on the heels of his latest and appraised release by Mixmag, Norwegian based producer and now farmer(!) - Kamuflars is back with two bouncing Balearic/Dub cuts of spine-tingling House on Mhost Likely Green and Jungelen. The originals are followed by a 90s, NYC-vibes, sunrise remix from Telephones (European Carryall) and a dubbed out, Downtempo, Zouk-inspired remix by Tom Manzarek (Plaisance Records).
Whilst his last release on Mhost Likely took a more experimental Broken Beat approach, this EP has you jumping in no time. The skippy and bright beats, heavy basslines and luscious synth patterns of 'Kveldsol' (translates to evening sun) invites you on a tipsy trip to a white beach while the sun goes down - sunlit happiness! Next to it is a dub-heavy track called 'The Things That Swings'. It's really something that swings when Kamuflars blends perfectly broken beats and Dub vibes with luminous synth work that creates a bouncy yet dreamy atmosphere.
Telephones' MOLO Sunrise Remix of 'Kveldsol' is a breezy house killer for the early morning hours. The Berlin-based Norwegian has re-recorded some of the 606-drums and added balearic elements through live recordings. As he perfectly describes it: "Pseudo-Balearic, Strictly Rhythm, after-hours party-vibes. Evening sun on Fløyen and view from the Sotra bridge with sea gust in the hair".
Finishing off is the Tom Manzarek Dub Remix of 'Things That Swings'. The prince of Dub from the South coast of France comes through with his trademark Downtempo and dub soundscapes. A Zouk inspired gem filled with the right stuff.
