Fashion in Fine Style - Significant Hits, Vol. 2Cutty Ranks
Following the success of the first 'Fashion In Fine Style' collection (Significant Hits Volume 1), we are proud to announce the forthcoming release of 'Significant Hits Volume 2' including another 20 classic tracks from the vaults of the UK's leading reggae label.
Fashion Records is a UK-based record label publishing reggae music. Founded in summer 1980, Fashion is one of the more successful UK-based reggae labels, and one of only a very few British reggae labels to release records that were produced in their own recording studio. Believe and Fashion came together November 2011 to re-launch the labels catalogue digitally.
Featuring some of Jamaica's and the UK's finest singers and deejays all performing at the height of their powers, 'Significant Hits Volume 2' features the full spectrum of reggae-related styles and includes several reggae chart number one hits.
Lovers Rock tracks come from Barry Boom, Michael Gordon, Neville Morrison and Janet Lee Davis, while Deep Roots heroes Horace Andy, Nereus Joseph and Glen Brown battle it out with Dance Hall stars Frankie Paul, Top Cat and General Levy. JA super stars Johnnie Clarke and Junior Delgado contribute their sweet singing to the mix.
There's a smattering of pop-flavoured reggae as well. Nereus & Winsome's 'Rock With Me Baby' was a reggae chart-topper, Michie One &Louchie Lou's 'Shout' was a bona-fide UK top 20 hit, and Phillip Leo and CJ Lewis just missed out on the pop charts with their take on 'Why Do Fools Fall In Love'.
We've added a bit of Jungle to the mix with DJ Rap's murderous reworking of Poison Chang's 'Love The Woman' - and Tenor Fly's defiant 'Don't Dis The Jungle' - as well as some early dancehall deejaying from MC's Papa San and Pato and an outstanding hip-hop mix of Cutty Ranks' 'Limb By Limb'.
All in all another superb anthology from the UK's finest reggae production team that truly represents the full range of the best in reggae from the 80's and 90's.
